DAVE!
this is dave, phil's favourite safeway co-worker. and he has a homepage! it's got many wonderful, wonderful things on it. dave is a very nice boy. he has an amazing talent for effectively bagging and checking groceries. so go there, sign his guestbook, and try to convince him to update it. thank you.

the final lap
i'm pretty sure that today is the last day for voting in the getting real website contest thing (i've developed so many brilliant names for it)... so if you want to vote for me, feel free. but, as i said before, you could also vote for the other two people. either way. thank you.
Monday, April 10, 2000 / 07:23 p.m.
diaries are cool.
i'm having a "fun with diaryland" day, and i just found this. the main picture is wonderful. i love it. and the diary is good, too. i'm glad that i have pitas to help me keep up with all of the lovely stuff i find on the internet. i've lost track of too many people over my time on this world wide web. i should probably make a pita archive sometime soon, though. this page is getting very, very extensive.
Monday, April 10, 2000 / 07:11 p.m.
she's back! hopefully for quite a while this time...
minji, a british internet friend from many moons ago, has recently made a reappearance on the internet. and i'm excited. we haven't spoken properly in ages, but back in the day, minji, andrew and i used to play together on minji's message board almost every single day. i've missed her. and her writings are always delightful. it's good to have her back. if i knew how to write an e-mail, i'd write to her. but at the moment i seem incapable of doing anything of the sort, so i'll have to wait for a while.
Sunday, April 9, 2000 / 10:10 p.m.
i have this very strong desire to put together a new layout. but i'm trying to ignore it. because as much as i want to fiddle around with new things, i know that i don't have the time or energy for that right now. distress, distress. for some reason, i keep telling myself that i can't make a new layout until after i do the whole beck thing. why? i don't know. i've been using that as a defining factor for a lot of things. it's like, my life will soon be separated into two distinct sections: life before beck and life after beck. i doubt it. heh... i'll just be glad when it's over.
Sunday, April 9, 2000 / 10:07 p.m.
i want free condoms! stupid americans.
i was so excited when i followed a link to dr. drew, thinking i'd be able to get myself some free condoms... not that i have any great need for them... and not that i'd really feel safe using any sort of medical device that i got in the mail... but it just would have been cool to get a discreet package marked only with my name. it would have made my parents wonder. and it would have been cool. never mind. anyway, because i live in canada and have no "zip code", i can't get them. sigh. i'm still trying hard to hold back the tears. really. it's all very upsetting.
Saturday, April 8, 2000 / 10:03 p.m.
oops... he... DID IT AGAIN!!!
phil now has a brand new layout... we worked on it together, no matter what phil says. it really does look good, though. and there's new content. unfortunately, an odd, unknown person seems to have taken over phil's diary. go take a look and see what i mean. so go... NOW! thank you.
Wednesday, April 5, 2000 / 05:29 p.m.
wanna vote for me?
hey, guess what? i've been nominated for getting real's sites you like award thing. it's funny, because i remember being nominated for it way, way back when when my site was still at eccentrica and was called 'sleep to dream'. and, by some strange fluke, i actually won it back then. so, technically i probably shouldn't be allowed to be nominated again, but i don't think that the people at getting real realize that i'm the same person. in any case, if you actually kind of sort of like my site, then feel free to vote for me. i'd really appreciate it. although, after looking at the other 2 nominated sites, i don't think i deserve to win. so if you want, you can vote for them instead. either way, thank you for your time.
Wednesday, April 5, 2000 / 05:23 p.m.
usually i hate mp3's...
for some reason, i've never been a huge fan of mp3's. i downloaded napster a while ago because everyone kept talking about how cool and useful it was, and i ended up deleting it a few days later. probably the main reason why i don't usually bother with mp3's is because i don't have any space anywhere on my computer to store them. but, after seeing mp3it.com linked from countless different places, i decided to take a look. and i was very impressed. i'm currently listening to a godspeed you black emperor! mp3.... another great band that i probably never would have discovered without andrew's help.
Tuesday, April 4, 2000 / 08:52 p.m.
crashing jets.
i found this site through a link on suzen's site a while ago, and i've been completely addicted ever since. i can't figure out exactly what it is that makes his journal entries so good, but i don't think it's something that i need to spend too much time worrying about. some journals are just plain interesting to read. that's all i really need to know.
Tuesday, April 4, 2000 / 08:02 p.m.
w.a.s.t.e. in my pants?
oh... this is wonderful. radiohead has now produced a pair of women's pants... cleverly referred to as 'low w.a.s.t.e.r.s'. sigh. i can only dream.
Tuesday, April 4, 2000 / 05:47 p.m.
color coordination is cool. so is danielle.
the lovely danielle recently re-designed her always interesting diary, and it looks wonderful. i really like it. there's just something about the combination of colours she uses that i really, really like. and her entries are always really good. she's one of those fantastic people who almost always has at least one music comment in each entry, and i love that. music comments are good. every day deserves at least one music comment, doesn't it?
Friday, March 31, 2000 / 03:59 p.m.
look at this! it's a link! now click on it! please!
well, after months of hard work (ha... ha ha ha ha), andrew and i have finally gone public with our "top secret project", digital hymns. what is digital hymns, you ask? well, you'll have to visit the site in order to find out. so please... take a look at it. now! yes, please. if you're too lazy to click on the link up there, just click here. thank you.
Thursday, March 30, 2000 / 10:53 a.m.
my peeeople page.
my diary now has a people page. i had no idea what a people page was until i accidentally found one last night. i still don't completely understand why i signed up for one. but i did. so, if you're feeling nasty, you can go and submit a review and tell me how much you think my diary sucks. i love diaryland. it's such a nice community. the whole atmosphere just makes me happy.
Sunday, March 26, 2000 / 11:39 p.m.
yyyyyyyyyyyyyEEEEEEEEESSSS!!!
he won! he won! he really really won! i'm so proud. so very proud. he showed silly old denzel a thing or two. hooray for kevin!
Saturday, March 25, 2000 / 04:33 p.m.
sexy shoe man.
i used to be obsessed with the verve's 'bittersweet symphony'. i thought richard ashcroft was hot because he wore pretty shoes in the video and he had nice, floppy hair. then i forgot about the verve and richard ashcroft for a long time... until i heard on your own from the acid house soundtrack. and now, today, as i was prowling around the internet, i somehow stumbled across the richard ashcroft homepage. and now, after watching the video clips, i want his new solo album. i really do. and he still has nice, floppy hair. mmm.
Saturday, March 25, 2000 / 03:24 p.m.
i enjoy the word "twee".
hmm... i was expecting a site about sweaters.
Saturday, March 25, 2000 / 03:16 p.m.
effectively w.a.s.t.e.-ing my time...
i just bought a bunch of tacky new necklaces. i like them. and now i feel like buying lots of other things. i feel like spending heaps and heaps of money... unfortunately, i don't have heaps and heaps of money. i don't have even a small heap of money. but if i did, i'd want to buy this, this, and especially this... i'd love to have copies of some of stanley donwood's small thoughts.
Friday, March 24, 2000 / 06:25 p.m.
wow.
i used to visit this site a lot... but then somehow i lost touch with it and didn't visit it for a long time. but then today i stumbled across it again - pretty much by accident - via someone else's links. and, as i looked through it all, i remembered why i used to be such a huge fan. and now my awe for it is even more intense. wow. that's all i can say.
Wednesday, March 22, 2000 / 08:02 a.m.
things like this make me cry.
radiohead have finally announced some tour dates. of course, they're all european dates. i swear, i'm never going to get to go to a radiohead concert. i would never ever even think about going to a concert ever again if i had just one chance to see them play live. well, maybe that's not completely true, but it's still fairly accurate. apparently there are some north american dates planned for later on. but i'd bet big money that they won't be coming anywhere near here. i hate the prairies.
Wednesday, March 22, 2000 / 08:01 a.m.
i hated second grade.
yes, it's true. i didn't really like grade 2 all that much, but i do enjoy this site. i really do. it's just... very well put together. and the writing is really good. plus, she has really good taste in music. always a plus.
Saturday, March 18, 2000 / 12:31 p.m.
slowly downward - a brilliant man named stanley
i've been a huge stanley downwood fan for quite some time now. and not just because of his involvement with radiohead. here's why:
nothing like this could ever happen to me that is happening to me. im in a dream this isnt really happening. to my right [closeup] [in detail] a muddied boot in a brutal foot [once a soft baby foot kissed and dried] [who are you why are you] mud on my cuff in my palm. staring at my wrist under the boot. my writing wrist my drawing wrist with just a little arthritis how can i ever have worried about that. back of my wrist feeling gravel under the mud worse and worse [booted muddied bloodied foot rocking twisting] [rockabye what is your name] water in my eyes like needles. and [too loud] [in detail] a cracking and popping
go visit his brand new homepage. it's worth it. really.
Thursday, March 16, 2000 / 08:10 p.m.
she is smashing up her house again.
lindsey updated! yahoo! and better yet, she updated with a new layout. so go take a look. there's lots of pretty colours. and the cool picture from 'run lola run' where she's looking at her reflection in the window. i love that picture. it makes my eyes play tricks on me.
Thursday, March 16, 2000 / 08:09 p.m.
there's ink on my shorts.
inkblot magazine... i first found this place through a link at a radiohead site, and i've been a frequent visitor ever since. they always seem to be talking about good bands. and the reviews and other articles and such are always really well-written.
Monday, March 13, 2000 / 11:51 a.m.
have you hugged a webdesigner today?
in addition to the clever little catch phrase (i like it. it's very catchy), tom's site also has a frequently updated journal, lots of pretty pictures, and a layout that prompts me to sit and stare at my computer screen with my mouth hanging open. tom is cool. go visit tom.
Monday, March 13, 2000 / 11:48 a.m.
i wish i could make things that looked this pretty.
this is one of the most amazingly pretty pages i've found in a very long time. i found it just the other day, and already the design has been changed... and it's even better than it was before. apart from the beautiful layout, the content is also incredible. many, many good words. an all-around nice place.
Monday, March 13, 2000 / 11:46 a.m.
greeeeeeen.
mmm... another nice site that i discovered the other day. i love it. i love all of the greens. and i love the way that she uses text in such an artistic way. yum yum yum. i'm not sure why i'm acting like i'm talking about a piece of cheesecake, but hopefully you'll understand.
Monday, March 13, 2000 / 11:44 a.m.
talented internet boys are neat.
i found william's site the other day and i love it so much. the design is beautiful. it seems simple, but i'm sure that if i looked at his source code my mind would start spinning. this guy has a lot of talent. and his site is wonderful.
Saturday, March 11, 2000 / 05:22 p.m.
amazing allison.
allison is one of the most incredible people i've ever met online. i've known her for quite some time now. we first connected when we discovered our shared love for kevin spacey... and i've been one of her biggest fans ever since. everything she does always manages to completely blow me away. and her newly finished portfolio is no execption. so go... take a look.
Saturday, March 11, 2000 / 05:19 p.m.
the pictures are preeetty.
there's something about this site that i really, really like. i can't pinpoint exactly what it is, but there's something about the atmosphere that i find really appealing. and her pita page is amazingly well-designed. wow. i'm impressed.
Saturday, March 11, 2000 / 05:12 p.m.
he looks like a guy i used to know.
my eyes are watering. i've loved this site for a long, long time now. but i've never actually spoken to steve (the guy who owns it) or told him that i like his work. i probably should sometime. but i have a tendency towards being incredibly intimidated by people who create beautiful sites. there are some sites that i visit every single day and love with all my heart, but i'd never have the courage to actually get in touch with the person who owns them. it's sad. i'm a pathetic, awe-struck little girl.
Saturday, March 11, 2000 / 04:54 p.m.
i shouldn't be looking at this.
wow. i'm not really sure how i found this, but it's very interesting. seeing some of the phobias listed makes some of my fears seem a bit less... outrageous. personally, i think i have a severe case of venustraphobia. i'm terrified of beautiful women. especially beautiful women who have pet mice on chains... i guess that would make me a combination venustraphobic/suriphobic/geniophobic.
Tuesday, March 7, 2000 / 07:36 p.m.
a new, permanent home.
okay. i've moved... again. and i still don't have any new content up. but it's on the way. for real this time. i've spent a good part of tonight organizing my new autobio complete with pictures and other (un)interesting things. so there really is something in the works. really. but for the time being, my diary is still being updated. stop by translucent.nu to visit my lovely new host crystal and all of the brilliant translucent hostees... my new neighbours, i suppose. wow. this is exciting.
Friday, March 3, 2000 / 08:14 a.m.
where did you go, psycho boy?
i just found this place and it's making me smile... but it's also making me late for school, so i suppose i'll have to wait until later to finish looking at it. i like internet boys with the name andrew. they always seem to be very interesting. and british boys with the name andrew and a broken computer are even better.
Wednesday, March 1, 2000 / 09:36 p.m.
and she curls, too!
oooh... lindsey now has her brand new webpage in working order, and it looks lovely. it really does. it makes me ashamed to think of my first attempts at a webpage... back in the day when i thought that loads of different text colours, annoying basic java effects, and animated pictures of puppy dogs were "kewl". actually no... i never said "kewl". i never actually got into the habit of using "internet speak". but i did have a crappy webpage. lindsey, on the other hand, has quite the opposite. she's looking good. so go look! NOW!
Monday, February 28, 2000 / 04:05 p.m.
a boy named bryce.
bryce is one of the most talented guys i've ever met on the internet. he really is. he's one of those people who's not just talented in one area or field... he's talented in dozens of different ways. but even though i envy his talents, i still thoroughly enjoy all of my many visits to his site. also, the fact that i actually talk to him in addition to silently admiring his work makes my obsession with him and his site seem a bit less... stalker-like.
Monday, February 28, 2000 / 04:01 p.m.
silverseam
i absolutely love this place. i can't believe it took me so long to find it. but i'm addicted now. it's become one of my favourite daily visits. the journal is incredibly well-written, and all of the pictures and colours are just lovely. mmm. very nice.
Wednesday, February 23, 2000 / 07:35 a.m.
it's up! it's up! it's finally up!
yes, that's right. the official babybird website is now up and running. and the album is apparently being released in may. of course, i'll probably have to wait an extra 15 or 75 months before it's released in canada. but at least i know it's on its way.
Monday, February 21, 2000 / 06:34 p.m.
thom is putin
if you need a reason to follow this link, please read this:
"It has come to my attention that the new Russian Prime Minister, Vladimir Putin, looks remarkably like my hero, Radiohead's Thom Yorke. This page has been started to bring this to the attention of the many others, and to prove that Radiohead's Thom Yorke is in fact the New Russian Prime Minister."
crazy people make me laugh.
Sunday, February 20, 2000 / 09:24 p.m.
i want to see this movie.
a few months ago, erin told me that a movie version was being made of high fidelity, one of her (and my) favourite books. i completely forgot about it until yesterday, when phil and i went to see 'american beauty' and saw a preview for it. it actually looks pretty good. i was afraid that they'd ruin the book, but i'm hoping that it will actually be okay. i suppose i'll just have to wait and see.
Thursday, February 17, 2000 / 10:16 a.m.
phil is a computer nerd.
phil and i had an "internet session" last night. i taught him a few things about how to use ftp and html, and now he's beginning to experiment with his site. it's all very interesting. keep checking his page to see what he's learning.
Thursday, February 17, 2000 / 10:14 a.m.
andrew changed the seasons
andrew's done something new and exciting... he got a domain. sort of. in any case, it's very very nice. the atmosphere of it is so very relaxing, and i can't wait to see what he does with it. i always feel the need to make a link whenever andrew does anything new with his site. is it obvious that andrew's site is my favourite place on the web? no, of course not.
